With reference to your letter No. 53545/36 of

the 10th October, 1936, I have the honour to transmit a copy

of a telegram which we have received from the Colonial

Secretary, Hong Kong, regarding the recruitment of three

further European Constables, and to enquire whether the

Secretary of State approves of our proceeding with the

selection and engagement of suitable candidates.

I may add that the telegram is our first intimation

of the further vacancies.
